New mother Jessica Alba is returning to work after giving birth to baby daughter Honor - to play a mathematics genius in a new movie.
Three months after she welcomed her first child with husband Cash Warren, Alba has signed to star in Invisible.
The actress will play an obsessive-compulsive maths teacher in the film, based on the novel by Aimee Bender, reports Variety.
Her character finds order in numbers and attempts to communicate her passion to a seven-year-old girl in her class.
Jessica Alba was not the first choice for the role of the math genius, as Ugly Betty star America Ferrera was approached earlier for the role. However, America turned down the offer due to her Ugly Betty commitments.
The screenplay is written by the people responsible for The Wedding Planner, Pam Falk and Mike Ellis.
The 27-year-old is also preparing to reprise her role in a sequel to 2005 movie Sin City.
